FOOTBALL FUN

An enthusiastic group of footballers (boys and girls) from Reception (statutory school age) to Year 4 meets on Saturday mornings from 10.00 – 11.00 during term time at the field in Polhill Avenue next to St. John Rigby School. This is run entirely by volunteers on behalf of the P.T.A. and is always looking for new players and more volunteers to help.

GYM CLUB

“In gym we do fun things with apparatus.” Ben – Year 2

We are lucky to have good links a local gymnastic group who run two after school clubs for Key Stage 1 children.

TAG RUGBY

“I like Tag Rugby because it’s active and fun to go to.” Elinor – Year 4

Tag rugby club runs after school throughout the Autumn and Spring Terms, for Year 3 and Year 4 children. The game is non contact and allows teachers the opportunity to teach children the basic rules and principles of rugby without the children being intimidated by tackling.

The children really enjoy the game. Previously, the school’s Tag Rugby team won the Local Cluster and Town Tag Rugby tournaments.

KWIK CRICKET

Kwik Cricket is the game developed and recommended by the English Cricket Board, for teaching young children the elements of batting and bowling. The club is open to the Year 3 and Year 4 children and runs after school, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, during the Summer Term.

NETBALL CLUB

Netball club takes place after school on Tuesdays of Autumn and Spring terms. Children from Years 3 and 4 attend and are coached by two of our teachers. The children have the opportunity to develop passing and defending skills and taking part in Hi-Five friendly matches with local lower schools.

TENNIS CLUB

“I love Football Fun and Tennis because the coaches are great!” Harry – Year 3

Tennis club takes part in the summer term after school. It is run by coaches from the Riverside Tennis Club who come into school to develop sending and receiving skills to those children who have not taken part in out of school tennis activities.
